Child Holistic Report

The Child Holistic Report focuses on addressing all the needs of a child’s life: emotional, physical, relational, intellectual, creative, diet, mental, spiritual etc. This perspective of development encourages parents and teachers to look at the child as a whole.

Child Centric Smart Evaluation System (CCSES)

Assessments & Grading

We continuously monitor and assess children’s development through our various evaluation methods. For grades 1-8, we follow the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern through regular diagnostics, formative assessments, and summative assessments. The academic year is divided into 2 terms.

-Pre-Primary Section

We conduct Qualitative Assessment, which describes the child’s personality in a holistic manner. They have 1 Formative Assessment per term and 1 Summative Assessment at the end of each term. A Four-Point Grading System is followed i.e. A+, A, B & C

-Grades 1-4

The assessment is based on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). Each child is assessed on the basis of activities, written worksheets and oral assignments. 2 Formative Assessments and 1 Summative Assessment are conducted in each term. A Five-Point Grading System is followed i.e. A+, A, B, C & D

-Grades 5 to 8

The assessment is based on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). Each child is assessed on the basis of activities, written worksheets and oral assignments. 2 Formative Assessments and 2 Summative Assessments are conducted at the end of each term. A Nine-Point Grading System is followed i.e. A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D, E1 & E2
The assessment has 4 components, broadly following the CCE pattern:

-Class Worksheet & Home Worksheet

HWs & CWs are conducted after every lesson. These worksheets offer instant result analysis and the mentor can get intensive feedback about each child which is used to reinforce the child's learning. The performance in the Home Worksheets reflects the understanding of the children for the concepts taught and helps parent to interpret about their child’s shortcomings for a particular concept. Also it provides a feedback to the mentor about the quality of content delivered by them and plan remedial sessions accordingly. Through Class worksheets, children get a chance to improve their performance with respect to the previous one. It also allows them to analyze their efforts and helps them to intensify their learning.

-Activities

Activities are conducted based on various topics that are taught, such as book reviews, role-plays, debates, written quiz and projects. The projects at Shamit are such that they add value to a child's learning and are age appropriate and done by the child independently. These activities are marked based on pre-defined parameters and they carry separate weightage in the Evaluations of every assessment.

-Formative Assessments

Formative Assessments follow the HWs, CWs & Activities. The formatives have a mix of pen- paper tests as well as activities. The weightage of each of these is defined in detail to arrive to Formative Assessment Grades.

-Summative Assessments

Summative Assessments There are two term-end tests per subject to assess Knowledge, Understanding and Application. These are formal pen and paper based tests.

CCSES Report

We assess children’s performance through multiple evaluation techniques. All the Formative assessment activities are conducted informally and formally using various techniques of evaluation continuously and periodically. To assess the level of understanding of the children and to get a feedback for the quality of content delivered by the mentor, Home worksheets and Class Worksheets are conducted after every chapter. A formal progress profile is shared with the parents after every Formative and Summative assessment.

In the Formative Assessment Report, grades are calculated according to the weightage allotted to each component of assessment. Our signature in the academics is to give you a detailed report of your child where you get Chapter-wise grades across all the components. This helps you to understand your child better and you get an absolutely pin-point area where your child needs to improve.

In the Summative Assessment Report, other than the detailed report like the Formative Assessments, each subject’s skills are also assessed. The Child Centric Smart Evaluation System helps parent to evaluate and spot the concepts where their child needs to improve and the skills we need to focus as a team.

As mentioned earlier, we have a carefully designed curriculum for co-scholastic subjects taught in the School. Hence, even the co-scholastic subjects are assessed similar to the scholastic subjects i.e. through Pen-and-Paper exams and Practical evaluation (Activities). A Five-Point Grading System is followed i.e. A, B, C, D & E.
